The Annapurna situation is dreadful, especially their response to it. What greed does to people. And I'm excited to see the inevitable 1 hour long in-depth analysis video on Concord someone will upload.
They had to maintain their composure, but they could’ve done it a hundred different ways. Instead they are like “Yeah, they quit, but we don’t really care. Come work for us!” Not a great look IMO
Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I don’t think it’s just about achievements. In the grand scheme of things, I think it’s about knowing how people play, what they play and when. Then this data can be used by marketers, advertisers, and a multitude of others to get you to pay for something or get your attention.
Even a small mobile game has tens of different analytics points that drives the game once it goes live. I can’t imagine how many of them there are when we talk about AAA pc/console projects
I didn't know that Pocketpair was based in Tokyo. :D
I always thought they were based in another country where they wouldn't care.

Gasp!!! Thanks so much for the tribute!! That means a lot, truly! 😻💜
Also, really disappointed with Annapurna and how they handled the whole thing.
Apparently, enough people are buying these seemingly worthless PS5 remasters for Sony to continue doing them? Ugh.
I know new AAA games are expensive (see: Concord), but not every new game has to be this blockbuster epic that costs hundreds of millions of dollars.
It is disappointing to see Annapurna dig in their heels. I really wanted this to be a symbol of change but instead it's just the status quo.

I wonder, what additional benefit does Sony get by enforing a PSN login?
The only thing I can think of is that by having all the achievement info in one db (their own) they can better analyze their games.
What else can be there? Thoughts?

And achievements give you like half of this days if not more :-)
There’s no way they spent 400m on Concorde. _maybe_ if they included marketing budgets or something
