Blink twice if you are interested in joining the community for Substack writers and creators where we can all talk shop together
Hello friends,
It’s been a while since the last time we saw each other on a Sunday, eh?
Today I want to talk with you about some of the things that I’ve been planning on doing for a long time and ask you if you are interested.
In short, I want to create a membership community with my fellow writers on this platform and today I want to share with you what I have in mind if you are interested in hearing more about it.
Let’s dig in!
Why?
I joined Substack about 6 months ago and this time was one of the most rewarding times I’ve ever had on an internet platform.
I’ve learnt a lot about myself, tried so many different things and met a lot of amazing people. Not once have I experienced a feeling like I don’t belong or that I’m doing something wrong. And I have you to thank for it. Every reader and fellow writer makes this place feel like home.
But there are certain things that I haven’t been able to talk about with anyone. For example:
It still stings every time you lose a subscriber
I still haven’t figured out how to utilize notes (and I’ve heard it’s all the rage right now)
I second guess the format of my news every few months
And my growth patterns are chaotic at best (because on Substack, like a cocaine-infused stock broker, you develop an unhealthy addiction to seeing numbers go up 📈)
It’s only to name a few and it’s only just a fraction of the challenges that a newsletter operator faces every day.
What’s even worse is that we have to figure out all this stuff by ourselves and sometimes it can get pretty lonely. And at times, extremely hard. Especially for people like me who are technically just starting their journey.
Which is why I want to at least try to do something about it even though I’m still trying to figure things out.
How?
So, today I want to announce that I’m planning to launch a membership community for Substack writers and creators where we can all talk shop together.
Think about it like a big therapy group where you can talk about day-to-day struggles with people who understand exactly what you are going through and some of them may even hold the answer to your question.
A safe space.
A place where you can ask for advice, celebrate your wins, share your experience with fellow writers, connect and discuss future opportunities together.
I want us all to have a community we can trust, rely on and learn from.
For now, I’m planning to have at least this:
A place where everybody can talk on a regular basis on a variety of topics (a Discord server or a Slack workspace)
Regular monthly meetings with members of the community
(Optional) Process breakdowns and workshops
A show of hands who’s in
As I mentioned in the beginning, I’m still trying to figure a bunch of things out and that’s why I need your help.
If you are interested in joining this community, please fill out the form below!
Thank you all! I will keep you posted on how this process is going.
Cheers,
Alex from Gamedev Relay
Sounds good to me! But I'll lurk in the corner. I don't use Slack and I mute Discord!

Ditto. Just lost one :(
