š® Glen Schofield Is Making Calls For Dead Space 4
Former VP and General Manager of Visceral Games and co-founder of Sledgehammer Games recently shared that he started āmaking callsā to make Dead Space 4 a reality.
According to a recent interview with IGN, there might still be hope for Dead Space, as Glen Schofield, one of the original creators behind the franchise, started making calls after EA turned down the idea for the sequel and now has new owners:
I went to EA recently and theyāre like no, weāre not interested anymore. I said, I can get back the leadership team. I need the models from EA Motive (who built the Dead Space remake in 2023), and I can save you 30 to 40 million dollars on the idea that I have. And, theyāre like, āno.ā
I have quite a few ideas that Iām ready to go with and one of them is Dead Space 4. The fact that EA just got bought, I think thereās an opportunity. Iām already making calls.
I donāt know where EAās head is right now, I donāt think they made money on the Dead Space remake. Dead Space needs to be adapted to different mediums ā movies, TV series, it would be great.
But I am more optimistic since the sale of EA, because somebody new could buy the Dead Space IP.
Itās still unclear whether Schofieldās efforts will yield any fruit, but itās definitely admirable that he is trying to bring back, honestly, a very solid franchise.
My personal opinion is that after this huge sale, EA will need some time to restructure and figure out a way forward, but itās definitely possible that the new leadership will revisit some of the decisions that the company made in the past and who knows, maybe weāll see more of Dead Space after all.
Would you play Dead Space 4?
š® Star Wars Eclipse Development Continues
The creators behind Detroit: Become Human finally decided to give an update on their new game that has been silent ever since it was announced almost 3 years ago.
In a recent blog post, Quantic Dream shared that they are turning over a new leaf for the studio and becoming a multi-project āafter years as a single-project studioā. And with that, they wanted to reassure the fans that the development on Star Wars Eclipse is still moving forward:
Since 2018, we have entered a new phase of growth and innovation. We doubled the size of the team, bringing together talents from all over the world united by the same passion for creativity. We opened a new studio in Montreal, moved into new headquarters in Paris, built the next generation of our proprietary technology, and became our own publisher.
After years as a single-project studio, we also decided to take a new step. Multiple teams are fully dedicated to crafting the next generation of great games, including something very different, a competitive multiplayer experience, born from the same spirit of curiosity and creativity that has always defined us.
This new title may surprise our fans as it is very different from what we have done so far. But taking risks, challenging ourselves, exploring new ways of playing and telling stories, and attempting what seems impossible, has always been part of our DNA.
We also know how demanding it is to create something new. Earning the trust of players, standing out in such a competitive space, and introducing fresh concepts is incredibly challenging. And since we have no legacy in this genre, we know we have everything to prove ā which is why your support and feedback will be essential. Together, we believe we can create something truly unique.
Of course, development of Star Wars: Eclipse continues, and we are eager to share more with you in the future.
Honestly, this all sounds wonderful. As a huge fan of Quantic Dream, Iām glad that the studio is not in a state of hiatus and is actually working on more stuff. After playing (and replaying) Detroit so many times over the years, I canāt wait to see what they have in store with a game thatās been in development for so long.
Are you waiting for Star Wars Eclipse?
š® More Modes In Battlefield 6
Last week, we talked about how data miners found files that might show that more nautical-based modes are coming to the game, and now they have found some evidence that at least 6 new modes might come into the game.
According to Insider Gaming, itās been there are six more game modes possibly joining Battlefield 6 at some point in the near future. The strings were found in the multiplayer files of the game:
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/Raid/Mode/MUT_Raid
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/Payload/Mode/MUT_Payload
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/Sabotage/Mode/MUT_Sabotage
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/SquadShootout/Mode/MUT_SquadShootout
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/Strikepoint/Mode/MUT_Strikepoint
Game/GlacierMP/Gamemodes/TankHunt/Mode/MUT_TankHunt
So far, only two modes have been mentioned by EA and are scheduled to be released on October 28 alongside the release of Battlefield 6 Season 1: Rogue Ops, Strikepoint and Sabotage.
From what I could tell, Battlefield is gaining a lot of momentum, and itās quickly become one of the most played games on Steam alone, having more than 450,000 concurrent players almost every day. If EA and Battlefield Studios keep this up, they might just become the next best thing in the shooter genre.

š® Sony Files An Injunction Against Tencent
Sonyās legal battle with Tencent continues as the company files a preliminary injunction to stop Tencent from using Aloyās resemblance and other elements from the Horizon series.
According to Games Fray, Sony is trying to stop Tencent āfrom reproducing, preparing derivative works of, displaying, performing, and distributing any works copied or derived from SIEās Horizon Works, including Light of Motiram, and from using the ALOY Character Mark or any confusingly similar mark pending trial.ā
The injunction also seeks to stop Tencent from using visual, audio, and storyline elements from the Horizon series. Thatās all, a response to Tencentās motion to dismiss the case based on the claim that Sony ātries to transform ubiquitous genre ingredients into proprietary assetsā. The publisher behind Light of Motiram also stated that they are simply incorporating āthe same time-honoured tropesā that games released before and after Horizon have used.
So many legal battles are going on these days. Tencent vs. Sony, Pocketpair vs. Nintendo and probably many more that are not in the public eye. I canāt say that I support any of the sides, and honestly, I donāt know how I would react in their place. It would probably depend on a perspective, so it will be interesting to see the ultimate winner in both cases.
Who are you rooting for?

Qizilbash stated that a film based on the Horizon is in development in partnership with Columbia Pictures. š® Former AC Director Confirms He Was Asked To Leave
A while ago, we talked about Marc-Alexis CĆ“tĆ© leaving Ubisoft shortly after the launch of Vantage Studios, and it looks like he wasnāt volunteering to leave.
According to CĆ“tĆ©ās LinkedIn post, the former Head of Assassinās Creed asked to āstep asideā:
Many of you have expressed surprise that I would choose to leave Assassinās Creed after so many years, especially given the passion I still hold for it. The truth is simple: I did not make that choice.
Ubisoft decided to transfer the leadership of the Assassinās Creed franchise to someone closer to its new organizational structure.
A different position was mentioned, but it did not carry the same scope, mandate, or continuity with the work I had been entrusted with in recent years. But I also owe it to my teams, past and present, to say this plainly:
I did not walk away.
I stayed at my post until Ubisoft asked me to step aside.
Well, it looks like my suspicions were correctā¦
š® Arrowhead Game Studios Is Working On A New Game
While Arrowhead Studio has been very vocal about continuing support for Helldivers 2, a recent job post suggests that the company is already working on the next thing.
According to the post itself, the company is looking for a Senior System Designer for a new co-op Action game:
Join our quest in making the worldās best co-op action games! Weāre looking for a talented Senior Systems Designer to join our growing design department and help shape the foundation of a brand-new, unannounced project. This is your chance to be part of an co-op action game from the start. Youāll be at the heart of building and tuning the core systems, progression loops, and combat feel like an Arrowhead Game.
And according to the only information I could find, the only thing thatās known about this project is that itās not another collaboration with Sony and that itās going to be ā100% fundedā by the studio.

Sony's injunction against Tencent over Light of Motiram is intresting because it shows how blurry the line is between inspiration and infringement in gaming. Tencent's argument about using genre tropes is somewhat valid, but when your main character looks almost identical to Aloy, that's hard to defend. The bigger issue is that Sony needs to protect Horizon's IP especially with the movie scheduled for 2027, they can't let a confusingly similar game dilute thier brand right before a major media push.
