Let’s dig in!
🎮 New Multiplayer Game from Remedy
And it is in the Control Universe! The company recently revealed the game under the title FBC: Firebreak.
In a follow-up interview with Xbox Wire, Game Director Mike Kayatta shared a couple of key points related to this new game:
FBC: Firebreak is not Control DLC and it’s definitely not a Control sequel.
We’re actively avoiding coming even close to feeling like either of those things. I guess you could say that it’s a spin-off, but in the most positive sense of the word. It’s not designed to be some kind of lesser, bite-sized Control. FBC: Firebreak is its own, fully formed thing.
The official announcement states:
FBC: Firebreak is a 3-player cooperative first-person shooter set within the enigmatic Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). As the Bureau’s headquarters faces a deadly and prolonged siege by otherworldly forces, only Firebreak—its most adaptable response unit—has the skills and courage to restore order.
I think it’s really great that the studio is leaning into the Control as a universe, but in my humble opinion, the game loses some feel to it when it’s in the first-person mode. Which makes sense, considering they are trying to pull further away from the original, but still…😅 Other than that, it looks great and it should be a good game!
FBC: Firebreaker will arrive in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
🎮 Subnautica 2 - Official Teaser
Considering how successful the first part was, it was only a matter of time before Unkown Worlds Entertainment finally announced the second game. And now the time has come!
So far there’s not much in terms of gameplay in the trailer, but the trailer does offer a unique cinematic look at the underwater world, a few different creatures, and two new characters—a man and a woman—as they deal with a massive Kraken-like creature rising from the depths!
They also shared that the game’s Early Access release window of 2025.
The trailer itself looks great and some of the screenshots from the store as well, but so far I’m still left wondering on what’s new with this game. How is it different from the previous one? This is the question that I’m looking forward to when the devs will be ready to share some more details.
Did you like the first one or the Below Zero?
🎮 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 going to PC
Another exciting news this week for those of you PC enjoyers (like yours truly 😅). Insomniac Games has announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released for PC on January 30, 2025, via Epic Games Store and Steam.
Julian Huijbregts, Community Manager at Nixxes shared the following on the official announcement post:
Bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to a new audience on PC together with Insomniac and Marvel Games has been a great experience for us at Nixxes. We are excited to continue this collaboration and bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC with a suite of enhanced features, including enhanced ray-tracing options, to take full advantage of a variety of setups and configurations. Stay tuned for more details on features and recommended specs closer to launch
Unfortunately, the studio also shared that there are no plans for additional story plans:
While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.
As a huge fan of Spider-Man, I can’t wait to play it! Even though I kind of spoiled it over with YouTube and the walkthroughs already… This is probably one of the few exclusives that I haven’t played in recent years, but the one I wanted to play the most. Yay!
Have you played it? If so, let me know your thoughts!

🎮 New Extraction Shooter from 2K and 31st Union
Wow, we have a lot of announcements recently 😰
2K and 31st Union have announced a new free-to-play third-person hero extraction shooter called “Project Ethos.” The game is supposed to mix the roguelike elements with the main mechanism of an extraction shooter. But it’s fair to note that it’s the first game of 31st Union that was formed in 2019.
So far, it has no release date, but I think it’s fair to assume that should be quite soon. Maybe in Early Access?
On that note, IGN recently shared the First Hands-On Impressions and they are what they are. You’ll have to see it for yourself 👇
The overall impression is this:
Project Ethos ultimately plays well, is enjoyable, and utilizes the extraction and roguelike aspects to its advantage, but at first impression, it fails to be a new experience that players will crave to experience over and over again.
I mean, it’s all well and good, but do we need another extraction shooter with a Fortnite art style? I’m not so sure. As a person who spent a lot of time playing Fortnite back in the day when it wasn’t a mash-up of multiple collabs, I don’t see a lot of difference. It looks and feels (at least based on the footage) very similar. Minus a bit of stiff gunplay.
What do you think? Do you think it’s too harsh of an assessment and there’s something there?

1…2…3…Go!
🎬 God of War TV series faces a reboot
I’ve already forgotten that the God of War adaptation was in the works 😅 Now it’s facing a major turning point as the series showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have departed the project.
According to Variety, several scripts were completed for the TV series’ direction, but ultimately, Amazon and Sony decided they wanted the series to go in another direction.
The show was initially greenlit as a series for Amazon Prime Video in 2022, and its delay now means that the series is likely at least three years away at the minimum 😭
🎮 Double Eleven reveals Blindfire
Another interesting announcement. During Tuesday’s Xbox Partner Preview event, Double Eleven revealed its brand-new game Blindfire. In addition, the game has launched in early access on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Blindfire is a first-person arena shooter where everything is dark and overall visuals are limited. Players have to rely on their abilities and senses in order to find opponents and take them out.
Very interesting design choice but too dark for my blood 😅
🎮 Rebel Wolves found their publisher for Dawnwalkers
Rebel Wolves is a new studio made up of CDPR veterans in 2022 and it has partnered with Bandai Namco to publish Dawnwalkers, the team’s first AAA RPG.
It’s a ‘brand-new IP aimed at mature audiences and is powered by Unreal Engine 5.’ Not much is known about Dawnwalker, other than the fact that it’s a sandbox-based title set in a dark fantasy universe.

Last weekend I saw probably one of the greatest animated movies I’ve ever seen! And it’s The Wild Robot! 🤖
I can’t recommend this gem enough, especially if you have kids. It’s amazing on all fronts. I’m not a very emotional person, but I was near tears more than once. It’s just that touching.
Also, Pedro Pascal is everywhere these days 😅
This is all the news I have for you folks today.
Thanks for making it this far! 🙌

Alex from Gamedev Relay.
I'm so hyped for Firebreak. I may have too much faith on Remedy, but I would love to explore that universe with the boys. And I've wanted to watch Wild Robot for a while now, but I did not know Pedro Pascal voiced someone in it. Dope.
Loved Wild Robot too!
