Let’s dig in!
🎮 Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
One of the pleasant surprises from the State of Play this time is a remaster from Guerrilla Games and Nixxes.
The official announcement says:
Experience Aloy's critically acclaimed adventure with stunning new visuals and upgraded features. This epic origin story is coming to PC and PlayStation 5 on 31 October, 2024 - and pre-orders are available now.
I’m not sure that this game needed a remaster, to be honest, but considering that it’s a thing right now and everybody does it, I’m not disappointed they’ve decided to do this game. I was thinking about going back to it for some time and now that the remastered version is on the way, I guess I have a plan.
🎮 Dynasty Warriors Origins
Koei Tecmo also appeared with a new trailer for one of the games I’ve been looking forward to.
There is also some new gameplay footage and it looks just right. I’ve played a bunch of these games a while back (back when Samurai Warriors 2 and Warriors Orochi were the belles of the ball) and honestly, I’d love to see a remaster of them.
Meanwhile, I’d settle for this one as long as it’s not going to repeat the failures of its predecessor.
The game is coming in on January 17, 2025!
🎮 Hell is Us - Gameplay Reveal
This one is quite a surprise as well. This is the first time I’ve heard about this project, but it looks good!
Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey.
I’m seeing a bunch of different projects spliced into one. There’s a soulslike, Death Stranding, Returnal and a little bit of This War of Mine. And I have to say, it looks like a good combination. And the enemies look genuinely frightening.
There is no release date so far, but both PS Store and Steam say 2025.

🎮 Ghost of Yōtei - Announce Trailer
The long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is finally announced!
And now it looks like the game is going to be about a female protagonist. The official announcement states:
In 1603, Atsu sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. Ghost of Yōtei comes to PS5 in 2025.
🎮 Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered
If you don’t know what it is, Legacy of Kain is a series of dark fantasy action-adventure video games primarily developed by Crystal Dynamics and formerly published by Eidos Interactive dating back to mid 90s.
Now it’s being remastered and it goes live on December 10th!
🎮 Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Another pleasant surprise for Dragon Age fans, such as myself 🤩
Besides the impressive boss combat sequence that took me back all the way to Inquisition, I’ve noted a couple more things. For example, the main protagonist (Rook) was hunting Ghilan'nain, the elven goddess often called the Mother of the halla.
And it looks like the plan that Solas had at the end of the Inquisition has at least somewhat succeded. Meaning that we will not only need to face the Dreadwolf himself but also the assortment of other elven gods in the flesh.
Can’t wait to play it 😍
🎮 ArcheAge Chronicles - First Trailer
This was another surprise. A sequel to a 2013 Korean MMORPG Archeage is announced.
The trailer itself looks very impressive in terms of combat and graphics. The official announcement says:
Unveiling 'ArcheAge Chronicles': Dive into a new era with ArcheAge Chronicles, the online action RPG set 50 years after the original. Embark on epic adventures, engage in enhanced combat, and explore vast, uncharted worlds filled with strategic battles and rich storytelling. Customize your housing, master life skills, and uncover new realms in this dynamic universe. Get ready to conquer challenges and unravel ancient mysteries in ArcheAge Chronicles.
I played the original one ten years ago but I wasn’t hooked. But honestly, I was into other games at that time and it was hard to sway me away. Also, MMORPGs used to be very time-consuming endeavours. I’m curious to see how different the sequel is going to be compared to the original one though.
🎮 If you want to check out more
My humble newsletter couldn’t handle the full list of games that made an appearance during State of Play, but there are a lot of news outlets that graciously summed them up.
If you want to check out all of them, Kotaku made quite a decent list here.
Also, I’m curious to hear your top pics from the State of Play!
🫡 True Tribute!
Today I wanted to salute
and the recent post about the infamous monkey game 😅 has some very interesting takes about different video games and his articles are usually full of interesting takes and personal anecdotes. All in all, a great place to learn more about popular (and not only) games 🤩😄 Personal Update
I got very excited by all these new projects at State of Play!
Besides that, I’m not sure if there are any League of Legends fans here, but the Worlds 2024 has started this week as well and I discovered last year that even when I’m not constantly playing the game, I still enjoy watching the world tournament. So, that’s what I’m doing even though the teams that I’m rooting for never make it past the elimination stage 🥲
On the other hand, I’m neck-deep in the community stuff and work, so I’ll probably skip this week’s Sunday post to have some spare time to set up the server so that it looks beautiful and neat 😅
This is all the news I have for you folks today.
Thanks for making it this far! 🙌

I'm excited for Legacy of Kain games those were good times. Hell is us looks promising, and looking forward to playing Zero dawn again!
Ghost looked beautiful. I wonder how it will compare from ps5 vanilla to the ps5 pro. Debating if I should sell mine now and get the pro to be ready.
