Let’s dig in!
🎮 Dragon Age: Veilguard
So, Dragon Age is not Dreadwolf anymore. At the end of last week, official channels from Bioware announced a rename of the game as well as plans to reveal the first gameplay footage today.
According to an interview with IGN, GM of Dragon Age explained why they’ve decided to change the name of the game and it’s because they wanted to put a greater emphasis on the team of the protagonist as opposed to the antagonist. Also, it seems like, after the success of Baldur’s Gate 3, they’ve decided to go back to the drawing board to some degree. You can romance whomever you want, you can bring with you whomever you want and it looks like they dug even deeper with DA loge on some of the characters.
“One thing that’s important to remind fans is that every Dragon Age game is a new and different experience and this game, more so than ever, is about you and your companions – a group that you must rally to fight by your side,” McKay tells IGN
I’m really excited to see what’s going on with this game in terms of the gameplay. There have been a lot of rumours that the game will be more like Dragon Age 2 than anything else, but this game being my least favourite one, I really hope that they won’t get into the final game. It’s also quite an unsettling time for game studios to underdeliver on their games as publishers close them left and right. I’m genuinely concerned about the future of Bioware if this one is not a success (at least financially).
But for now, I’m looking forward to seeing new gameplay and hopefully a release date 🤞
🎮 Exciting Trailers from Summer Game Fest 2024
Another event is behind us and there are a lot of things to show you guys. There are simply too many things in my short newsletter. So, I’m just going to stick to the few of them that grabbed my personal attention.
If you want to know more, Kotaku managed to capture all of them, for example.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions - Reveal Trailer
Finally, a game that focuses on quidditch! It’s a shame that we can get only either/or with it, but at least it’s something. This game is planned to be released on all consoles on September 3, 2024.
Civilization 7
So far it’s quite unclear how the new game is going to look like, but I’ve enjoyed all the entries in the series since the 5th one, so in my mind, they can do no wrong 😅
Metaphor
For a Persona fan, it’s shaping up to be a great game. Set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia where the assassination of the king has caused chaos and unrest, Metaphor: ReFantazio follows the story of how people must find unity to elect a new king
Dune: Awakening
Very exciting MMORPG that’s cashing in on the success of all the recent Dune movies. It is quite an interesting take, but MMORPG in our time is quite ambitious IMO…
Again, there’s plenty of other stuff that was announced. But these were my personal highlights that I’m looking forward to.
Let me know what you think about this recent showcase!

🎮 The Thing is getting a remaster
Last week we also heard from Kotaku that a quite old horror game is getting a modern twist.
If you ever played a 2002 game or watched any of the movies, then it’s your day. Nighdive Studio announced that they are going to remaster the original game which includes: improved models, textures, and animations, and features new lighting and atmospheric effects, 4K native resolution, trophies, achievements and more!
“The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful pieces of art in the horror genre. With The Thing: Remastered, we’re honoring that legacy and Computer Artworks’ incredible game inspired by the story that further expanded the lore.” said Larry Kuperman, Nightdive Studios’ director of business development
Nightdive Studios says the game will be out sometime later this year on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC
🎮 New Consoles from Xbox
This is one of the things that happened during this weekend’s Xbox Showcase. I’ll get into more detail with games later in the week, but one small piece is that we are getting a new series of consoles later in the year.
Personally, I’m a bit sceptical about this move, but I’m also not a huge fan of Xbox, so what do I know, right? But about to launch during Holiday 2024 are these bad boys:
All-white Xbox Series X All-Digital edition with 1TB of storage
A new “Galaxy Black” Series X console with 2TB of storage
A new 1TB Robot White Series S console.
Are there any Xbox fans here? What do you think about these new consoles?
😄 Personal Update
This will be a new optional part where I’ll share my personal updates that may or may not include newsletter updates of any significance, the games I’m playing, the things I’m learning etc. I hope you’ll like it 😅
For example, last week I finally got a key for the closed Beta of Arena Breakout: Infinite! I’ve been trying to get it for weeks as it’s a game that I’ve been waiting to play for a long time. And it’s awesome!
I’m still dying more than I’m killing, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right?
This is all the news I have for you folks today.
Thanks for making it this far! 🙌

I didn't know that there was a game for “The Thing”. I really like the movie. Thanks for that. :)
The “personal update” section is a good idea.
Been waiting for a new Quidditch game for a while now. Hope it isn't another live service online multiplayer only type deal.
